Forget feeling good

It’s easy to be excited in the moment about something; much harder to exert effort over time towards something.

Being excited feels good; exerting effort not so much. Striving for something greater than oneself takes effort.

There’s nothing exciting about laboring towards a legacy, about toiling for or providing for others. That takes work!

Usually we feel excited because we’re getting something in some form or fashion that makes us feel good.

Versus undertaking effort that doesn’t feel good (it’s work!) because it’s what’s necessary or needed by others.

It’s why the post below resonated. It’s about the difference between doing what’s exciting versus what’s effortful.

It’s about working and laboring towards something greater than oneself. And that rarely feels good, as expected.
